Fear is something we all face at some point in our lives. I experienced fear this week as I had to go to a doctor appointment I didn’t want to go to. But those fears were unrealized. What I had imagined might happen didn’t. Why did I waste my energy worrying about something that might never happen or wasn’t as bad as I had imagined it would be? I have learned that God will give us the grace when we need it. Why worry? Why fear? But I just can’t seem to avoid it.
A passage that always draws me back when I find myself fearful and anxious is Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
He gives us two commands:
- Do not fear.
- Do not be anxious.
Then He gives us five reasons why we don’t need to fear or be anxious:
- I am with you.
- I am your God.
- I will strengthen you.
- I will help you.
- I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
What more do we need? The next time you find yourself anxious or fearful about a situation, turn to Isaiah 41:10 and allow His Word to give you peace.
