God is FaithfulToday I received word that a dear friend (43 years old) has been diagnosed with breast cancer. My heart sunk as I thought about the road ahead for her – surgery, radiation, possibly chemo. Many of you have already walked this road.

How do we respond when we get news like this in our own lives that we didn’t want to hear? For me, fear sets in. Worry and anxiety take over.

But this morning, God pointed me to Scripture that focuses on His faithfulness. One of the verses was Psalm 138:8: “The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” In times of uncertainty, God’s faithfulness carries us through.

Today, I’m going to do something different in this blog post. This morning I spent time with the Lord going through five passages in the New Testament that affirm God is faithful. I encourage you to take some time this week to do this exercise. Get alone with God. Grab a pen, paper, and your Bible. Look up each verse, and answer these questions: God is faithful to do what? How is He faithful? What else do you learn about God from these verses?

  • 1 Corinthians 1:9
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:3
  • Hebrews 10:23
  • 1 John 1:9

Then spend some time thanking Him for His faithfulness. Think through your needs in each area.

“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

He is faithful to accomplish what concerns me. He is faithful to accomplish what concerns my friend as she embarks on this new journey in her life. He is faithful to accomplish what concerns you. God is faithful.

I’d love to hear what God teaches you through this exercise.
