As Christmas is quickly approaching, let’s reflect on what Christmas is truly about.

It’s not about the decorations, food, family gatherings, and Christmas music, although we enjoy those things at this time of year. But we wouldn’t even have Christmas if Jesus hadn’t come to this earth as a baby born in Bethlehem. Because He came, we have hope in this life and eternal life.

A few months ago, I witnessed the sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range in the Himalayas in Nepal. As beautiful as that sunrise was, it pales in comparison to the Sunrise mentioned in Luke 1:78-79.

These verses were part of Zacharias’s prophecy about the coming of Jesus. He said, “… because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Let’s take some time this Christmas to reflect on the significance of the Sunrise who came – the birth of Jesus. I pray His light would shine in our hearts every day until the day He returns for us.

As we celebrate the birthday of our Savior, I want to share with you this video of one of my favorite Christmas songs, sung by Danny Gokey – Mary, Did You Know? I hope you enjoy it as you reflect on the true meaning of Christmas this year – the coming of our Savior, the coming of the Sunrise.

Merry Christmas!

I’d love to hear what your favorite Christmas songs are.
