The years 2020 and 2021 have been challenging. Just when I say, “It can’t get any worse,” something happens that proves me wrong. It has been a season that has kept me on my knees looking to Him for strength, wisdom, and guidance. Our churches have been stretched as we’ve had to adjust the way we do ministry in a social distancing environment.
There’s so much conflicting information out there on the news and social media and the internet that it’s hard to know what to believe these days. Who’s right? How do we make decisions when we’re not sure whose words to believe?
God reminds me in these difficult times that He is trustworthy. His Word is truth, and I can trust what He says.
He loves me. (John 3:16)
He will provide for me. (Phil. 4:19)
He is in control. (Col. 2:9–10)
He causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him. (Rom. 8:28)
He will never leave me. (Heb. 13:5)
When I find myself overwhelmed with worry and anxiety by present circumstances, I find peace and strength in His Word—not the words of the world.
As we worship our risen Savior this Easter, let’s keep our focus on Him and all He has done for us. If He loved us enough to die in our place, don’t you think He loves us enough to carry us through every challenge we face?
Take a few minutes and sing the words of that classic hymn, Because He Lives. (Watching this video moves me to worship.)
What is your favorite Easter song?
Thank you for the words of encouragement and the link to “Because He Lives” – was just going over the words this morning.
On Easter morning 1992, Ruben, Lety, and Abel sang this at the 6:00 a.m. worship service at the Tlapaneco Annual Conference in Tlacoapa.
Porque El vive…..
Thanks, Hickman! And I heard Ruben sing this song with his guitar when he was in Memphis. I’ve been singing it the past few days.
Great devo, great song. Thanks, Crickett. Happy Easter.
Happy Easter, Stephanie!
Nothing grounds us and brings calm to the chaos like the truth of God’s Word. Thanks for your sweet encouragement and song choice. “Crown Him With Many Crowns” stirs my soul to shout for joy! Happy Easter!
Happy Easter, Mel! We actually sang the song, Crown Him with Many Crowns, this morning! Thanks for sharing!
Happy Easter a day after Easter…because we can celebrate His resurrection every day! My new favorite song is “His Heart Beats” by Andrew Peterson.
Happy Easter, Cathy! I love Andrew Peterson, but I don’t think I know that song. Going to listen to it now. Thanks for sharing!
